Facial Relations

Your skin isn’t something that will automatically take care of itself, the way hair sometimes does. It requires a certain amount of time and effort. Regular facials, administered by a licensed aesthetician, will help the epidermal layer maintain a fresh look, with clean pores, and moistened, evenly-toned skin. It would seem to be an essential part of the movie-making process… Ask Dustin Hoffman, who underwent many hours having his pores extracted prior to and during the shooting of “The Graduate” – and that was in the 1960s.

From Pimples to Wrinkles

Since many of today’s stars and starlets are still enjoying the glow of their youth, another matter of skin care comes up for them – bouts of acne. Celebrities, from Jessica Simpson to Vanessa Williams, have used ProActiv to battle their unsightly (and untimely) pimples. On the other end of the spectrum are those stars who have aged gracefully, such as Helen Mirren, with the use of skin-care regiments that no doubt includes a variety of anti-wrinkle treatments, including natural anti wrinkle remedies.

Whatever methods the stars (or anyone else) employs in the epic battle against the forces that work against our skin, the good news is that more and more progress is made each year as the makers of skin care products expand their knowledge base and their product lines.

More and more “children’s movies” are including adult humor. Adult humor meaning simply humor that probably only an adult is going to understand and find funny The Shrek movies are a good example of this.

Not the Old Classics

Whereas movies like 101 Dalmatians, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella and other good old Disney standbys were nice, clean, wholesome fun for the kids; aside from the storyline they were not particularly appealing to adults. Shows like Aladdin, with Robin Williams as the genie, started appealing to adults thanks to the comedian’s humor and delivery. Remakes of animated movies using real people are touch and go. Where Cloris Leachman did a great job as Cruella De Ville, not all humans are capable of putting forth the quality performance that an animated character can. Short of perhaps Jim Carrey, not many humans can make the kinds of faces that an animated character can make, for one thing. Humans in general, are simply not as lovable as a soft looking, cuddly cartoon character.

Name Some Names

Some specific titles of movies that both kids and adults will enjoy are as follows: first and foremost is ‘ET: The Extraterrestrial’, ‘Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ with Gene Wilder not that Johnny Depp one, ‘Home Alone’ and, ‘The Santa Clause’, ‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’, ‘The Grinch’ I prefer the animated version to Jim Carrey’s live performance… But the cartoon is only 30 minutes long; and of course, ‘Elf’, ‘Toy Story’, ‘Monsters Inc.’, ‘Big’, ‘The Incredibles’, 1967’s ‘The Jungle Book’, 2009’s ‘Up’, and ‘Back to the Future’ with Michael J. Fox.

As with all things, there were some stinkers. A few of those ended up being ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks- the Sqeakquel’, ‘The High School Musical’, ‘Baby Geniuses’, and ‘The Magic Round About’.
